GETTING AROUND

On request, the host can arrange car rentals, taxi services or bike rentals. The Island of Krk is famous for its network of bicycle and hiking trails, beautiful beaches and stunning views.

Most of the walking trails on the island of Krk can also be used for cycling. In fact, thanks to the speedy way of life and day-to-day stress, even more attention is given to active holidays and to cycling in particular. Apart from the recreational aspect, the aim is to extend the tourist season.
So, many different events are held on the island of Krk such as “Spring on wheels”, an event whose aim is to promote Krk’s cycling routes which are suitable for scooter, bike and quad tours, and “I love the autumn –Bodul bike”, a recreational bike race through the walking paths of the city of Krk with fitting entertainment programme. Apart from those along the shore, that is the paths known as “lungomare” (seafront), cycling routes also pass through the internal part of the island along with the traffic routes. Along the new reconstructed traffic route from Krk towards Malinska a cycling track has been created, which is divided by green line. It is extended on the section from the crossroads to Valbiska to the entrance into the city of Krk.

The island of Krk is surrounded by clear and clean sea. Beautiful beaches are of particular interest. Some are hidden in the bays, some are nicely arranged hotel or public beaches, some are pebbled or sandy, rocky… some can only be reached by boat or taking walks on shepherd’s paths along the pine forest. However, all these Krk beaches are suitable for visitors of different affinities.
If you wish to spend your vacation surrounded by your family, practising sports and looking for entertainment, there are a number of bays connected by walking paths offering various facilities such as sports parks, children parks, often located in deep shade and accompanied by a café or restaurant.
If you prefer the isolation or a romantic spot, little bays hide the undisclosed beaches, away from civilization and crowded areas; some of them accessible only from the sea side are the right choice.
As the sun sets, the beaches invite you to take romantic walks or look for entertainment. In search for the latter, look for cafes and clubs in the open, offering entertainment until the early morning hours.
The island of Krk offers beaches for pets and nudist beaches located in natural bays with crystal clear sea bringing the man close to the nature.

The island of Krk is also the island of Blue Flags. There are 15 beaches proud to wave the Blue Flag as the best evidence of clean sea and coast with high standards of services.

The bathing season starts in spring and lasts till late autumn, thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate.

Krk beaches are full of sounds, smells and colours you must not miss. It is up to you to find a beach that suits you best. We can recommend several beaches, close to the Gostinjac:
Risika, St. Marak sand beach (3 km); Klimno, Soline sand beach (3 km); Šilo, City beach (4km); Punat, St Dunat beach (13 km); Baška, Vela plaza pebble beach (25km).

Moving from the village to the east you can notice the characteristic elements of this territory: vineyards and olive groves that produce wine and oil of excellent quality. The cultivation of the wine on the gentle slopes in Vrbnik valley dates back to far-off times. There are old and modern cellars worth to be visited. This is an experience that can be lived privately or directly or in groups enjoying the tasting of wine and oil in the most important olive groves and cellars of the Krk Island.

Along with the great Krk olive oil, Krk cheese and high quality fish and lamb, the island of Krk can be proud of the numerous authentic taverns and good restaurants. There you can find a pleasant atmosphere and traditional food made following family recipes. This will turn a visit to one of Krk’s taverns into a real taste experience, that include seasonal ingredients in the menus. Restaurants will therefore offer you young Krk lamb, wild asparagus, Krk šurlice, dishes based on the extra virgin olive oil or a special ingredient – figs!
